EXHIBITOR INFO

2000

The first CYCLINGWORLD took place in 2000 – small, unique and not yet at the Areal Böhler Düsseldorf. Organizer Stefan Maly laid the foundation for an event that combines cycling culture, innovation and a passion for cycling.

2001

The second CYCLINGWORLD was just getting underway – visitors and exhibitors met up, timed to coincide with the Road Cycling World Championships, to watch the World Championship races together, discover new products and celebrate their passion for cycling. But on September 11, 2001, everything changed abruptly: instead of the planned live broadcast of the cycling race, the shocking images of the terrorist attacks in New York were suddenly shown on the screens and the cycling theme was ultimately only a peripheral topic throughout the entire weekend. Shortly afterwards, the former event location was finally demolished – a decisive chapter in the history of CYCLINGWORLD.

2016

In 2016, Stefan Maly discovered the special halls of the Areal Böhler during a visit to a trade fair and fell in love with the industrial architecture. The following year, the first CYCLINGWORLD was held at Areal Böhler – initially only in the Alte Schmiedehalle.

2017

The trade fair returned in 2017 – initially under the name CYCLINGWORLD Düsseldorf. With growing relevance and increasing importance for the entire European market, it eventually became CYCLINGWORLD EUROPE, which is now one of the largest bicycle trade fairs for end consumers in Europe.

2018 - 2019

The exhibition space also grows with the success: additional halls of the Areal Böhler are opened up, new themed areas and experience zones complement the trade fair experience. CYCLINGWORLD becomes CYCLINGWORLD EUROPE – and is now one of the largest bicycle consumer trade fairs in the whole of Europe. The event is not only perceived as a trade fair, but also as a meeting point, festival and showcase for the finest bike culture.

2020 - 2021

The world has come to a standstill – including CYCLINGWORLD. The coronavirus pandemic has forced the event to take an unplanned break. But behind the scenes, the team continues to work on ideas, concepts and plans to come back stronger after the crisis. The anticipation in the community remains, and the Areal Böhler is waiting to be filled with life and cycling culture again.

2022 - 2025

The comeback will be a triumph: CYCLINGWORLD opens its doors again – this time in all halls of the Areal Böhler. Over 350 exhibitors from all over the world will be presenting innovations, designs and trends that will make the heart of every bicycle lover beat faster. Visitor numbers reach new records and the event finally establishes itself as one of the largest bicycle trade fairs in Europe. What once started small is now a shining beacon of the scene.
