Product description
The Serea bike lock does not require a key or battery. It uses NFC technology – the same technology used for contactless payment. A physical key is therefore superfluous. The lock is controlled and unlocked exclusively via the Serea app. Users create an account there and connect their lock using the PUK code provided. Once this is done, the lock can be unlocked: one tap in the app, hold the smartphone with its NFC sensor to the lock’s NFC antenna – click – and it opens. In addition to the unlocking function, the app also offers practical additional features. These include simple sharing of the lock with other people and – if the location is activated – an unlocking history that allows you to keep track of your lock’s use at all times.
How does it work without a battery?
Unlike many other smart locks, Serea does not require a rechargeable battery or batteries. This means: no recharging, no empty batteries in winter, no failures. But how is the lock supplied with energy? The unlocking process only requires a very small amount of power – so little that the energy pulses from your smartphone are sufficient. In addition, kinetic energy is stored in a spring during manual locking. This energy supports the unlocking mechanism the next time it is opened.
