Just in time for the start of the 2026 bike season, Pinion is activating the new “Auto.Shift.Pro” automatic function for selected e-bikes with the latest generation of Smart.Shift Ci transmissions.

From March 2026, Pinion will be offering fully automatic shifting for Ci-Line transmissions in the latest generation of E-bikes. The new Smart.Shift function is called “Auto.Shift.Pro” and is available in current e-bikes with Smart.Shift transmissions, depending on the technical equipment. With a free software update of the Pinion Smart.Shift app, Auto.Shift.Pro is automatically activated if the system requirements of the e-bike allow it.

With Auto.Shift.Pro, the riding experience on an e-bike with gears can be completely rediscovered. The function significantly simplifies operation, reduces the cognitive load when riding and thus ensures more riding comfort, more safety and a stronger focus on the essentials: safety and riding enjoyment.

Many exciting bike models from well-known manufacturers benefit from this update, such as e-bikes from Asfalt, AureusDrive, Desiknio, Geos, Konrad Bikes, Nordic Bikes, Opium, Schindelhauer, Stromer, Twinner and Urwahn.

Auto.Shift.Pro can be conveniently switched on and off at any time – even while riding. A long press on the front shift lever of the Pinion TE1 shift lever on the right-hand side of the handlebar or alternatively on the A button on the left-hand control unit (depending on the equipment) activates or deactivates the function.
Once activated, the system takes over the fully automatic shifting and automatically selects the gear that best matches the current speed. If the automatically selected gear does not correspond to the desired cadence, the rider can intervene manually at any time and select a suitable gear using a shift command. At this moment, Auto.Shift.Pro adopts the cadence generated by the rider as the new reference and uses this as the basis for all further automatic gear changes. This individual cadence specification can be adjusted by the driver as often as required by overriding the automatic system again, which means that the system always adapts to personal preferences.

In addition to the new fully automatic shifting function, Pinion Smart.Shift technology continues to offer the tried-and-tested Pre.Select and Start.Select functions.
